\nSchool starts on the 18th which means it is time to think about getting back into the swing of things.  Having a good, healthy breakfast is important to start the day right, but getting ready in the morning can be hectic and it is easy to turn toward fast or prepared breakfasts and sugary cereal.  That is why we have compiled a list of healthy make-ahead breakfasts that are delicious kid-friendly and fast:<\/p>\n

1) Cook Ahead Muffins –<\/strong> Bake muffins using wholesome ingredients like berries, apples or bananas.  Individually wrap them or place them in freezer bags with a date and pull them out the night before for a quick, delicious and nutritious breakfast.<\/p>\n

2) Cereal Bars –<\/strong> Many of the store bought cereal bars are filled with sugar and preservatives.  Make your own using almonds, honey, bran cereal and dried fruit.  Freeze them and bring them out for a nutritious and quick breakfast. Here is a recipe to try.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Yogurt and Fruit<\/strong> – Yogurt and fruit are the perfect morning breakfast, but don’t just purchase the fruit yogurt in the store, make your own. Buy plain, Greek or organic and add some crunch granola and berries on top.<\/p>\n

4) Breakfast Wraps –<\/strong> This is a grab and go breakfast that is easy to eat on the run. You can make them ahead of time, try filling a wrap with turkey and cheese or avocado, bacon and tomatoes.  Prepare them the night before, wrap them and put them in the refrigerator for a great breakfast treat.<\/p>\n

5) Breakfast Quesadilla –<\/strong> You can make these ahead of time or in the morning.  Place one tortilla in a pan, put apples and cheese (or avocado and bacon or other proteins) on top, place another tortilla on top and cook for a few minutes on each side on medium heat.  This delicious and nutritious breakfast is a great way to start the day.<\/p>\n
