Here it goes again, another night of loud neighbors, clicking shoes, slamming doors and barking dogs.  What can you do to help stop the noise or at least minimize it.  Follow these tips:<\/p>\n

If the noise is coming from a loud neighbor, try these tips:<\/p>\n

1. Tell them or send them a note.  There is a chance that they are not aware that they are being noisy.<\/li>\n
2. Record the times and types of noise that you are experiencing.<\/li>\n
3. If a friendly reminder doesn’t alleviate the noise, then you need to report the noise violation to the property management office providing them with details and keep your report as unemotional as possible. Stick to the facts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

   If the noise is not from a neighbor, but the street or the community, you will have to try to sound proof your apartment as best you can.<\/p>\n

   1. Try adding rugs to your apartment, the fabric will absorb noise.<\/li>\n
   2. Add sound reducing curtains. They can be purchased inexpensively from your local home store such as Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, or Walmart.<\/li>\n
   3. Add a door sweep to help reduce noise from a hallway or neighborhood noise.<\/li>\n
