If you've never taken the short drive from your Reserve at Warner Center apartment to the Getty Villa, you have really been missing out. Never fear! There's still time to visit and there's never been a better time to go. Currently there are many family-friendly and very interesting events and exhibits to enjoy.
One of the more beautiful exhibits currently on display is "Molten Color: Glassmaking in Antiquity." This exhibit features more than 180 different ancient glass objects, with some glass having been produced as early as 2500 B.C. All glass is from Erwin Oppenländer's own collection. You can find more information about the exhibit here.
In addition to gorgeous glass exhibits, the Getty Villa also has fun and interactive tours happening every day! On Thursdays and Saturdays from 2:30 to 3, for example, you can enjoy a 30-minute “food-themed” tour of the beautiful Villa gardens! You’ll see and touch the plants, herbs and fruits that were commonly used for meals and cooking hundreds of years ago. You can find more information here.
Regardless of why you visit the Getty Villa, you’d sure to have a wonderful time! Be sure to stop by sometime this November!
